Flexibility for Bootstrappers
If You Are a Pre-Revenue/Non-Funded Startup…
As a general rule, I do not do “equity for hire” contracts, nor deferred billing. The reason is that I feel both of those present a higher cost to a startup, by creating unnecessary debt or giving equity where it is not truly merited.
If your startup is not currently generating any revenue or does not have funding of any kind, here are 2 flexible arrangements I can offer:
1. Barter
If you have a skillset that I currently need in my consulting practice, or for operations at CoffeeWithAnExpert.com, we may be able to make a barter deal. (My preference is a combination of cash + barter.)
Here’s the current list of areas I need help with:
- WordPress PHP Guru
- Marketing copywriter
- Wiki taxonomy expert
- Legal incorporation
- Non-profit vs. for-profit
- Administrative assistant
- Web hosting/scalability
- FAQ/Info packet documentation
- Web design (for a WordPress-powered site)
- Logo/branding
Contact me to let me know if you’re interested in arranging a barter deal.
2. Freelance your skills at CoffeeWithAnExpert.com
One of my “Hundred Dollar Business” projects, CoffeeWithAnExpert.com, provides startups with access to talented people for a $25 problem-solving coffee (30 min.) or for short-term, a la carte consulting by the hour.
If you are pre-revenue/pre-funding, please feel free to use CoffeeWithAnExpert.com as a way to freelance your skills to generate cash to pay your bills, self-fund your own project, pay for Big Paper Consulting services, etc.
