Big Paper Consulting
My areas of specialty are angel/venture capital funding, revenue generation, and streamlining/building out efficient operational processes.

What I Do
I use my signature “big paper problem-solving approach” to help startups clear up obstacles and move the business on its way to the next stage of growth.
Typically, that is a combination of:
- Assessing the current status of the business
- Identifying critical gaps or inaccurate business assumptions
- Brainstorming/problem-solving trouble areas
- Education on startup topics
- Strategic overhaul
- Process-building
- Investment document review
- Direction to resources and information
- Introductions to people who will be an asset to you
- Recommendations for web-based technology solutions to automate processes
- Industry insight (high tech startups/angel & venture capital/microbusiness)
Sample Problems I Can Help You Solve
- You need a bootstrapping plan to maximize your resources.
- Your existing product isn’t generating revenue.
- The business is in operational chaos due to undeveloped, nonexistent, or bottlenecked processes.
- You’re not sure how to look for angel/VC funding
- Business plan, financials, or pitch need major revision.
- You need a blog/basic website but lack technical skills/don’t need to hire a full programmer.
How It Works
Choose between A La Carte (5 hours or less), or a Day/Project Rate (5-15 hours).
Before we meet, I’ll send you an assessment to define the type of help you are looking for, so our time meeting is spent directly resolving your current situation.
A La Carte Consulting (5 min. to 5 hours)
5 min. Q&A via online chat
$0 60 min. Group Q&A* $0 30 min. New Client Coffee** $25 60 min. Problem Solving Coffee*** $Hourly Rate 60 min. Document Review**** $Hourly Rate
*Seattle/Portland only
**New clients only, 1-time offer
***Bring problems, leave with solutions & clearer direction
****Document review is billed in 15 min. increments
Day Rate/Per Project Consulting: 5-15 Hours
If you’d like to work with me on a larger project, let’s first get acquainted through one of the a la Carte Consulting options.
That way we can answer some of your questions and solve a few problems together, and then scope out/bid a strategic plan from there.
Flexibility for Pre-Revenue/Non-Funded Startups
As a general rule, I do not do “equity for hire” contracts, nor deferred billing. The reason is that I feel both of those present a higher cost to a startup, by creating unnecessary debt or giving equity where it is not truly merited.
If your startup has not generated any revenue or does not have funding of any kind, there are 2 flexible arrangements I can offer.

The final product was a plan and pitch focused only on key points of the business written in a language that speaks to the mind of the investor. Investors have complimented me on the quality of our pitch and presentation. That’s the sound of opportunity knocking. If you want to take your business to the next level for funding, the pitch is critical. And Carolynn can help.” October 5, 2008.
